History
Radiometer Pacific has had a long history of excellance within the medical and scientific community.
Foss Electric (Aust) Pty. Ltd. was incorporated in N.S.W. in 1967 as a joint venture between A/S N. Foss Electric Denmark and C.J. Kelly. The purpose of the company was to sell and service the products of the Danish company. These products were mainly instruments intended for the determining compositional parameters in milk and milk products. The company’s success in this field is indicated by the fact that by 1975, more than 95% of Australia’s milk was tested by Foss Electric instruments.
In 1976 agreement was reached with another Danish company, Radiometer Copenhagen A/S. Radiometer acquired 40% of Foss Electric Australia, which then undertook sales and service of Radiometer products in Australia. This enabled Foss Electric to expand into the Medical market with Radiometer Blood Gas and Transcutaneous monitoring instrumentation. This improved product base allowed the company to expand its sales and service activities and to expand operation into all states.
Throughout the 1980’s, subsequent agency agreements were established with other European manufacturers; Buchi of Switzerland, Heraeus Sepatech, Heraeus Votsch, Heraeus Original Hanau, Heraeus Thermotech of Germany, Heto / Holten of Denmark and Biotrace of England.
Other Radiometer companies are also represented such as Radiometer Tacussel / SOLEA of France and other A/S N. Foss Electric companies such as Multispec of the U.K. and Elementar of Germany. This group of agencies enables Foss Electric to be represented in the Medical, Food / Dairy, Analytical and Industrial areas with a range of high technology and high quality instrumentation.
A joint venture between Radiometer Copenhagen A/S and Foss Electric Australia in January 1990 established Radiometer Pacific Ltd. in New Zealand. An office was set up in Auckland.
A further agreement with Radiometer and Foss Electric of Denmark in 1992 led to the selling of the Foss Group of products into the dairy industry.
In April 1993, on the retirement of C.J. Kelly, the shareholders of Foss Electric Australia reached an agreement whereby Radiometer Copenhagen A/S acquired 100% of the shareholding of Foss Electric Australia Pty. Ltd. Thus, Foss Electric Australia became a part of the worldwide Radiometer group of companies and has hence changed it’s name to Radiometer Pacific Pty. Ltd.
The company was divisionalised into a Medical and Scientific division until May 1996, when Russell Christian was appointed Managing Director of the Australian and New Zealand Company and hence focussed all activities into specific business units as described in the attached structure and in line with our goals and vision.
As of the 1st of August 2000 Proscience joined forces with Radiometer Pacific Pty.Ltd, a subsidiary of Radiometer Copenhagen, to create an Australia wide laboratory division. With over 20 years of experience, Proscience is synonymous with professional scientific services and excellent customer service.
